"I—I don’t feel very balanced, Fakir!"
"Idiot! Don’t lean into me!”

I AM SORRY

(I am actually sorry for the quality, first thing I could find on youtube)
Please don’t push your shitty dumb anime tropes onto good characters
(see also: me shitting all over others’ posts again)
(the picture is really good, but the situation and character interpretation is just. no)

I confess myself completely confused. What “shitty dumb anime trope” is being represented upon “good characters” in my drawing?
Did we watch the same show? Ahiru is as clumsy and lacking in self-confidence as they come. Throughout the show, they show her to have trouble even in the beginner’s class for ballet.
And if you’re referring to Fakir, then I’m even more confused. After Act 12, he’s revealed to be a HUGE TSUN-DORK. He suffers from massively red blushing faces throughout, pretty much all of which have to do with Ahiru or her nakedness in some way.
I honestly just don’t know what you’re getting at here. It’s completely plausible that their interactions dancing together could be like this post-series. After all, one dance in the Lake of Despair does not suddenly completely change who they are and what they’re like. Ahiru does not become an elegant prima donna like Princess Tutu and I doubt Fakir is magically going to always feel comfortable around her, either.
You’re welcome to your own opinion, but please do not try to press your views as fact and reblog my art post saying such things. It’s pretty rude.

I am sorry if I misinterpreted the commentary. What does “Idiot! Don’t lean on me!” mean? It’s possible that I just assumed while there was a perfectly reasonable explanation.

He’s saying don’t lean into me—-as implied that she’s so off-balance she’s teetered right into her partner. And as the wobbles suggest, he’s losing his balance, as well. (But mainly he’s reacting out of embarrassment of her pressing up against him out of the blue. Because he’s a giant dork and he has ~feelings~ for this girl.)
Honestly, though, there is no ‘wrong’ interpretation to make and I don’t even need a ‘reasonable explanation’ for what I choose to draw. I could change his face to an iguana and it’s still just fanart of which I’m expressing in my own way. Unless I’m flat out insulting someone or a group of people through my art, I don’t see why this is an issue at all. If you happen not to like it, no one is making you look at it in the first place. o_O;

"embarrassment of a girl pressing up against him out of the blue" - yeah, that’s what I thought. See, this is ballet. That’s why I added that screenshot there - of her actually pressing against him while he spins her in the air. Physical contact in dance doesn’t have the same implications as in daily life, and Fakir would not be embarrassed of something he does every day with many other girls, or if he were, it would be very much impolite to express it out loud. Especially when the context is “I’d rather have you fall than lean on me” - especially when he’s the partner, his responsibility IS to have her lean on him if she loses her balance.

english: eight -> night
german: acht -> nacht
french: huit -> nuit
italian: otto -> notte
spanish: ocho -> noche

Linguistic science side of tumblr please explain this n+8≈sleepy time equation

Those are all Indo-European languages, so they share the same roots for both eight (*oḱtō) and night (*nókʷts). The original similarity was probably just a coincidence, and as the languages diverged similar-sounding words tended to change in the same way, so for German we get:

*oḱtō->*ahtou->ahto->acht
*nókʷts->*nahts->naht->nacht

And for French:

*oḱtō->octo->uit->huit
*nókʷts->nox->noit->nuit
